Mountainpark Surya (Owner Sondra Darnbrough)
Admittedly I am to blame for the number of Bengal cats in my parent’s household, but it is a cross I bare with some pride. You see, when I first saw cats of this breed with my Grandmother, I casually mentioned that my Mom would like them. The result was a return trip to the cattery, and shortly thereafter a deposit was made for our first Bengal kitten, Kailasa. No, I don’t have any regrets about the comment that I made that afternoon, because several cats and a different continent later resulted in my friend, Mountainpark Surya.
Because I am pursuing a career in international show jumping, my accommodations are usually at an equestrian centre where I am somewhat removed from the major cities. Although I have my friends, none are as comforting and unique as my feline friend. Whether in the house, the barn or out for a walk, Surya is a delight. He is a vocal cat; always ready for conversation on a good or bad day, or a debate on when a good game is necessary or dinner should be served. When I am living in a country where language can sometimes be a barrier, I know there is always someone there to listen to me.
